Hours - 10 hours per week - 15:45-17:45; Monday to Friday (50 weeks per annum)

Salary - L1a (£11.59/hour - £11.79/hour - dependant on experience

The Governing Body of Hillborough Infant and Nursery School is seeking to appoint a Cleaning Operative to work from 15:45- 17:45, Monday to Friday.

The School cleaner will work as part of a team to perform a variety of regular and one-off cleaning tasks and duties as directed by their supervisor/line manager. We require a committed and self-motivated individual with an enthusiasm for maintaining and enhancing the school’s high standards.

As a School Cleaner you will: 

  • Be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness of your designated area and for maintaining consistent and high standards;

  • Take the initiative to perform cleaning and tidying tasks that are not specifically contained within the rota but require attention as part of maintaining overall high standards; 

  • Liaise with Supervisor, Premises Manager and School Caretaker and other members of staff as required to ensure the cleaning rota operate smoothly around both school events and outside lets;

  • Report cleaning supplies requirements and stock levels to the line manager;

  • Ensure Health & Safety, quality and general procedure compliance.;

  • Work as part of a team and support other members of the cleaning team to meet standards and school objectives;

  • Report any Health and Safety issues to the Supervisor, Premises Manager;

  • Have experience in undertaking a range of cleaning duties 

    • Vacuuming 

    • Dusting 

    • Mopping 

    • Scrubbing 

    • Buffing 

    • Disposing of waste 

    • Replenishing consumables

  • Have a positive attitude, be flexible, enthusiastic with excellent communication skills;

  • Be proactive and able to work on own initiative;  

  • Contribute towards the school ethos, improvement activities and the wider school community; 

  • Be adaptable to a changing school environment;

  • Be prepared to attend training arranged outside of contracted hours. 


Previous experience of working in an educational environment would be desirable however is not essential as full training will be given.
