About this Role

We are looking for Midday Welfare Assistants to join our friendly team’s at Polden Bower School based in Bower Lane & Albert Street. Working term time only plus insets (39 weeks) Monday to Friday 11.00 am – 2.00 pm each day – 15 hours per week.  

This is a Grade 16 post. Approximate annual gross salary £8,529 , £710 monthly.

Polden Bower School has two sites located in Bridgwater Bower Lane and Albert Street. It’s a fantastic place to work with state-of-the-art facilities for all the children and young people, this includes a warm water pool for physiotherapy; a sports hall; a sensory room; and fully accessible classrooms with the latest teaching technology.  Polden Bower School is part of a growing partnership which also includes The Bridge School, Sedgemoor and Avalon School.


Our students have a wide range of learning needs. We offer a personalised curriculum alongside a wide range of enrichment opportunities and interventions. 


         Key responsibilities include:

  • ·         Supervising and assist students with their midday meal
  • ·         Attending to pupils’ personal care needs
  • ·         Supporting children’s play during lunchtime encouraging constructive and imaginative play.
  • ·         Helping to clear the hall and classroom keeping them clean and tidy
  • ·         Support in the classroom where needed around the lunchtime period
  • ·         Willingness to undertake training to support their role and an understanding of the requirements to attend safeguarding sessions

                Applicants should be:

  • ·         Able to work alongside others to ensure independent life skills are practiced and developed throughout the day
  • ·         Able to demonstrate a positive and enthusiastic approach
  • ·         Enjoy working with children and young people
  • ·         Some personal care will be involved
  • ·         Well organised and very reliable
