We are seeking to appoint a well-qualified and inspirational teacher of English and Second in Charge of department, to support the leadership and delivery of an enriching curriculum, within the English department. As a team, we believe strongly that English is a subject vital in developing our students’ ability to empathise with others and to think critically about the world around them. We have designed a curriculum that offers a diverse range of fiction and non-fiction texts in order to enrich students’ experience and equip them with the tools they need both for success at GCSE and A Level, and for future career pathways. Our department works collaboratively on SOWs and refines them each term so that we are delivering the best resources and lessons to meet the needs of all our students. Our recent work has been on building adaptive resources to meet all learners needs, as well as working on metacognitive strategies to foster student independence. You would be expected to develop, plan and deliver highly effective learning experiences to all students across every key stage and lead a transformational extracurricular offer.
We are currently seeking two new English teachers to our growing department. In addition to the Second in Charge post, candidates can also be considered for a Teacher of English post.

St Mark's were inspected by Ofsted in March 2023. The Academy performed exceptionally well in all areas, with particular reference made to expert curriculum design; transformational teaching and learning underpinned by the highest expectations; the extra-curricular offer and staff and pupil wellbeing. The report states, “there is enough evidence of improved performance to suggest that the school could be judged outstanding if we were to carry out a graded (section 5) inspection now.”
