About this Role

Curriculum Leader Science (opportunity to earn up to £60,000)

 Full time / Permanent

Start Date – 1st September 2024

Salary: MPS/UPS (£30,000 - £46,525) + TLR 1E (£11,409) There is also the potential for us to consider a recruitment and retention payment, the level of which can be discussed at interview.

This will mean that for an experienced candidate, there is the potential to earn approximately £60,000 (with a pay award pending for 2024)

About the role:

We regard science as being one of our ‘flagship’ faculties, delivering strong outcomes and having an excellent reputation locally.  The faculty delivers GCSE combined science, GCSE triple science, as well as psychology and health & social care, with a range of lead teachers who are remunerated with TLRs, providing leadership for each subject offered.  Following the promotion of the current curriculum leader to our senior team, we are seeking to appoint an associate curriculum leader who can lead our science faculty, supported where required by the former curriculum leader who is keen for someone to implement their own vision for the department.

This role is ideal for those with existing leadership experience in science perhaps as a leader of biology, chemistry or physics or as a second in department.  Whilst leadership qualifications are useful, they are not essential as we will invest in the successful candidate.

Managing the well-being and workload of staff is something taken extremely seriously by the Principal, having already taken steps to reduce unnecessary burdens and bureaucracy.  These actions were rated highly in the most recent staff survey, which takes place on annual basis.  Staff describe Hathershaw as “a great place to work”.

If you want to know more about the role, please contact Vicki Sainsbury, PA to the Principal, on vs@hathershaw.org.uk

Hathershaw College

The Hathershaw College is a very successful and oversubscribed 11-16 Academy within the Pinnacle Learning Trust, which consists of ourselves, Oldham Sixth Form College, Werneth Primary School and Broadfield Primary School. Alexandra Park Junior School will be joining the Trust from 1st April this year. We are also well located with good public transport links and excellent access to the motorway network.

You will see from our Ofsted report published in January 2022 that we have retained our good status. I would advise you to read the excellent report before applying. Key highlights from this include: “Pupils behave sensibly around the school and in lessons. They are respectful to other pupils, staff and visitors.” “Staff value the steps that leaders have taken to ease their workload and support their well-being.” Senior leaders have taken radical steps to manage the workload and well-being of colleagues by reducing unnecessary burdens and bureaucracy. These actions were rated highly in the most recent staff survey, which takes place on annual basis.

As a Trust, we celebrate diversity by encouraging an understanding of our communities, faiths and cultures.
