About this Role

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and inspirational teacher of English to join our thriving English Department.  The English Department at Priestlands is a supportive and exciting department to work within. We prioritise the development of our pedagogy through the sharing of our ideas and expertise in order to teach lessons that challenge and stimulate all students. The whole team is enthusiastic, ambitious and mutually supportive.

We are looking for candidates who will be able to fit into this hard-working team and who will share our commitment to delivering excellent outcomes for students.  You will be able to demonstrate the professional and personal qualities necessary to consistently inspire our students across Key Stages 3 & 4.  All students study AQA English Language and Literature.  You will be keen to uphold our values and actively contribute to the further development of English in the school as part of a strong, successful and specialist team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a well-qualified and passionate teacher to work with highly engaged students who are supported by a wider school culture of readiness, respectfulness and responsibility.   Situated on the coast in Lymington between the New Forest and the Solent, we are recognised for our excellent induction programme and support.  Newly qualified and early career teachers are encouraged to submit an application, as well as experienced candidates.  We will ensure the successful candidate has:

·         Comprehensive induction including a dedicated mentor

·         Continuous professional learning, development and improvement

·         The opportunity to contribute to raising standards for all our students

Benefits of working at Priestlands  include:

·         An open professional culture and learning community

·         Professional development opportunities for all staff

·         Strong parental support for teachers

·         Opportunities to contribute to our wide ranging and popular extra-curricular and inter-House programmes of activities

·         Free on-site car park

·         Friendly and sociable colleagues

·         Enrolment in and generous contribution to the TPS pension scheme

·         Eligible for reduced rate membership at NFDC leisure centres

·         Free and confidential Employee Assistance programme offering advice on a range of areas including well-being, housing and financial matters

·         Free eye sight test every 2 years

·         Free annual flu vaccination

·        Affordable on-site canteen

If you are ambitious, committed and enthusiastic and can help us in our drive towards excellence, then we would like to hear from you.  If you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact us.

We look forward to receiving your application as soon as possible as we may invite candidates to interview before the closing date.  We reserve the right to close a vacancy earlier than the advertised date if we receive applications that meet the criteria. Once a vacancy has closed, we are unable to consider further applications, so please submit your application as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

Priestlands School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share in this commitment.  This post is covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exemptions) Order 1975 and you will be required to declare whether you have any criminal convictions.  Priestlands School is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications from all sections of the community.
