About this role

At Hessle Academy we think our learners are extraordinary,  but we couldn't achieve this without our staff.

The Head of Department, History, will play an active role in the leadership and management of the department to secure high levels of progress and to raise the standards of attainment for all students.
They will uphold the values of the Hessle Academy and the principles of ethical leadership in all interactions with colleagues, students and parents.

The post holder will be accountable for standards of attainment and progress as well as strategic development of the department, ensuring a high level of student achievement and welfare. They will also be responsible for staffing and resources and liaising with key support staff to maintain a safe and productive learning environment.

About you

This is an exciting time for an ambitious and innovative teacher to join the team. We are looking for someone with excellent teaching and communication skills, who will be creative, enthusiastic and committed. The successful candidate will hold a Degree or equivalent in a field related to History and can transfer their enthusiasm and knowledge of the subject to students across the age and ability range. 

They will be a talented and creative teacher, consistently delivering high quality lessons. The successful candidate will have a passion for their subject and a desire to inspire students to develop their love of History.

The individual will work collaboratively alongside other colleagues across the Academy to improve opportunities and outcomes for our students, as well as leading their own department.
