We are seeking to appoint from September 2024, a talented, engaging and enthusiastic teacher of Humanities (with Government & Politics). This is an exciting opportunity to join our successful team and you will have the opportunity work across a range of subjects including History, Geography, RS and Politics. The exact nature of the post can be tailored to the individual, and comprehensive support to develop across any of the subject areas is available if required.

This position offers the successful candidate the opportunity to make a positive contribution to departments that strive to keep the curriculum they offer vibrant, engaging and relevant.


THE HUMANITIES DEPARTMENT

The History, Geography, RS and Politics departments work closely together so that they can the best out of being both independent subject areas and also part of a wider humanities team. The departments are located on the recently refurbished Humanities floor in the main school building with 9 specialist teaching rooms. There is a spacious shared Humanities office which aids collaboration and gives a great community feel to the H floor, as well as a shared purposefulness.

The Humanities team as a whole are a welcoming, experienced and supportive group. We currently benefit from the enthusiasm and experience of four Historians, 4 Geographers and two Religious studies teachers, as well as the support of two SLT links who lead our Politics offer at A-level.  The Professional Tutor is also part of our team and we are always keen to develop and improve, both as individual practitioners and as a team. As such, the Humanities team contributes to the training of new teachers as part of the Grand Union Teacher Training Partnership and participates in the SWAN network.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about Humanities and who wants to play an active part in continuing to develop a relevant and engaging curriculum that promotes outstanding outcomes. We offer a number of enrichment activities and the team’s dedication to providing stimulating lessons continues to be rewarded with large numbers of students opting to take all our Humanities subjects at GCSE and A Level.  Many of our A-Level students also go on to study related degrees at University.

Government and Politics has fast become an established part of the Moulton Sixth Form Curriculum. Its numbers have grown and continue to be healthy and we teach a range of students with consistently high outcomes. Many of our students go on to study at top Russell group universities including Oxford and Cambridge and even more pursue their interest in Politics further with degrees and work experience in Politics and related areas as diverse as International Relations, Law and HSPS.
