Upper Batley High School was identified as a Beacon School in the Northern Challenge report due to the excellent progress our disadvantaged learners make. We also hold the Gold Award for Mental Health & Wellbeing, the PSHCE Charter Mark, the Careers Quality Standard and we are a lead school within West Yorkshire. We are one of only a few schools in the UK to achieve 100% in all Gatsby benchmarks. Ofsted identified our careers programme as a “real strength of the school” and we are in the top 13% of all schools nationally.

We are seeking to appoint an innovative and enthusiastic Second in Science to support the Head of Department to lead our successful, supportive and hardworking team. If you are a highly effective classroom teacher with good leadership and communication skills and are keen to make a difference to the learning and aspirations of our students, then we would welcome your application.

The successful candidate will:

  • Work with the Head of Department to help the Science Team to become an outstanding department with excellent outcomes.

  • Ensure all learners are high achievers in Science.

  • Contribute to the planning, developing and monitoring of all Science courses.
