About this Role

The Oxford Academy reserves the right to hold interviews as and when applications are received, and this job may be withdrawn at any point without notice. With this in mind, you are encouraged to apply as early as possible.

The Youth Worker position is an exciting role in our school, and linked to our school vision of ‘Commitment to Others, Commitment to Learning.’ Be a part of our school improvement story and join our enthusiastic, dedicated, hardworking team.

This career opportunity is intended for someone who is caring and committed, with a background in youth and/or education work and working with young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. You will help our students to learn, grow and develop, and will encourage them to play a positive role in their school and community for many years to come.

In this role you will have the opportunity to make a difference to the educational experiences of our most vulnerable young people. You will support them to develop their resilience and personal skills. We are looking for an individual who wants to be a part of transforming educational engagement and student well-being in our school. You will form strong community partnerships with the groups in our area, and encourage and celebrate student participation both in school and out.

We are justifiably proud of what we offer to our staff: with good career opportunities and training, active support from leadership at all levels, clear routines and policies, and, ultimately, the satisfaction that comes from genuinely changing the lives of young people for the better. We invest in our staff wellbeing, with an employee assistance programme offering free confidential support and advice services, and working benefits including childcare vouchers, cycle to work etc.

  • To play a key role in an ambitious and improving school

  • Outstanding professional support at every stage of your career

  • A comprehensive Induction Programme

  • A supportive Senior Leadership Team

  • Opportunities to work in a dynamic and supportive school with excellent facilities

  • A positive student body who love learning

  • The opportunity to work in the beautiful city of Oxford, serving the communities of Littlemore, Blackbird Leys and Rose Hill

Education has the power to change lives, communities and society for the better. At RLT we believe that we can achieve more for our pupils, trainees, staff and communities by working together rather than alone. Schools in RLT are united by a common belief in the benefits of working together, and by our commitment to shared principles.

OUR VISION is for our schools and SCITT to improve rapidly, continuously and sustainably: to be better faster together.

OUR ‘WHY?’ is that children and young people ‘only get one go’ in school and therefore as part of RLT we aim to ensure the best possible ‘go’ for our pupils.

OUR ‘HOW?’ is through the highest support and challenge for our schools and each other, underpinned by our principles.

Our employees benefit from a wide variety of support including extensive  continuing professional learning and development opportunities, wellbeing and staff networks and access to Defined Benefit Pension Schemes (TPS and LGPS) for all staff. For more information on what it is like to work for the Trust, and the benefits you could access, please see our “Working in RLT” guide.
