About this Role

A £9000 recruitment incentive (R&R) payment for successful candidates applying directly to RLT for this role, is payable after a qualifying period of two full terms in this role.  This includes a 3-year retention period.  Please see our attached information sheet for more details.

This is a great opportunity to join our school at a very exciting time in its journey.  We are looking to appoint an ambitious teacher who is either looking to make the move to middle leadership or is an aspiring senior leader. You will need to have experience of coaching and mentoring colleagues, leading to success in improving standards and raising student outcomes in Maths at Key Stages 3, 4 and 5. You will also help develop an exciting curriculum and have the resolve to make a real difference to the lives of our young people.

Do you want to work in a school that:

  • Is friendly and community centred, where staff genuinely feel part of a team. 'The school is mindful of staff workload and well-being. It provides high-quality training and support. Staff recognise this and they feel valued and respected' (Ofsted 2023).

  • Places staff well-being at the heart of everything we do.

  • Has a full time Instructional Coach who works with staff to develop their practice through selecting specific teaching goals that maximise student learning.

  • Has an ‘aspirational and appropriate curriculum for all’ (Ofsted 2023).

  • Has students who behave well in lessons (Ofsted 2023) so teachers can teach and students can learn.

  • Prioritises high quality bespoke CPLD as well as opportunities for collaboration and support across a successful and highly respected multi academy trust.

  • Is well resourced and where each teacher has their own classroom complete with interactive screen as well as a Chromebook.

Maths is popular and successful at A-level and therefore the ability to teach Maths to A level is desirable. We are also looking to introduce Further maths into our curriculum so the  ability to teach this is desirable but not essential.

The subject is well led by an experienced and highly successful subject leader who is also The Trust Subject support Partner.  The team also benefits from a maths specialist coach to support and drive improvements in teaching and learning.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop their own leadership qualities, whether that be through a relevant Masters programme, NPQSL or off-site training of their own choosing. As a more experienced colleague, you will be encouraged and supported to share good practice across Oxfordshire as we are part of the River Learning Trust. Through this partnership, we have strong networks with other schools which provide lots of exciting opportunities for our staff.

Our students and staff are keen to meet you and show off our school, so why not come and visit before you apply? We very much welcome interested candidates to contact us to arrange an informal visit.

The school reserves the right to consider and interview candidates ahead of the closing date if appropriate. An offer may be made to an exceptional candidate in this instance.

Education has the power to change lives, communities and society for the better. At RLT we believe that we can achieve more for our pupils, trainees, staff and communities by working together rather than alone. Schools in RLT are united by a common belief in the benefits of working together, and by our commitment to shared principles.

OUR VISION is for our schools and SCITT to improve rapidly, continuously and sustainably: to be better faster together.

OUR ‘WHY?’ is that children and young people ‘only get one go’ in school and therefore as part of RLT we aim to ensure the best possible ‘go’ for our pupils.

OUR ‘HOW?’ is through the highest support and challenge for our schools and each other, underpinned by our principles.

Our employees benefit from a wide variety of support including extensive  continuing professional learning and development opportunities, wellbeing and staff networks and access to Defined Benefit Pension Schemes (TPS and LGPS) for all staff. For more information on what it is like to work for the Trust, and the benefits you could access, please see our “Working in RLT” guide.

This role includes regulated activity relevant to children.

The River Learning Trust and The Oxford Academy are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and preventing extremism.   The Trust is required to conduct a variety of checks and online searches about you as part of their recruitment process in accordance with Keeping Children Safe in Education guidance. It is an offence to apply for certain roles within schools if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children.
