Farndon Fields Primary School

About Farndon Fields Primary School

We are a successful, friendly school set in beautiful grounds on the edge of Market Harborough. Our school is growing with the construction of two additional classrooms that were completed in February 2013 and a significant expansion that was completed in January 2018. We have 7 new classrooms, a new hall and a refurbished administration area and school entrance. We have also installed a brand-new library thanks to funds raised by our own PTA and support from the local Market Harborough charity ‘Howard Watson Symington Memorial Charity’. We are a Microsoft Showcase school, sharing good practice through this global network.

In May 2023, Ofsted found that the school continues to be good.  They reported that 'Leaders have high expectations of pupils’ behaviour and academic achievement. Pupils live up to these expectations. They enjoy attending school each day and talk with enthusiasm about their lessons and teachers. They feel safe and confident.' They added that Parents praise the care and attention that staff show their children. One parent, typical of many, said that their child had developed their ‘confidence and pride’ since joining the school.'

We have high aspirations for all of the children in our school and the entire school community works hard to ensure that the children reach their potential in a nurturing environment that values excellence, enjoyment and innovation. We ensure that the children are given every opportunity to further develop and improve and that they leave Farndon Fields well equipped to move on to the next phase of their education.

Our pupils are at the heart of the school and it is recognised that they  'behave well. They know the rules. Pupils are ‘respectful, safe and ready to learn’. They are calm and focused in lessons. They take pride in their work. Pupils take up leadership opportunities. They contribute to the school community by acting as playground leaders, members of the school council and anti-bullying ambassadors.'

We have very close links with our local community including a collaborative partnership with many of the local schools. Farndon Fields became a school with academy status on the 1st July 2012 and joined Discovery School's Academy Trust (DSAT) in September 2015. The trust is a group of 13 like-minded schools that are aiming to deliver the best possible outcomes for primary age children across Leicestershire and Leicester City.

Farndon Fields provides an excellent education for all the children who are part of the Farndon family – nurturing them, supporting them to be the best that they can be and giving children the skills they need for the rest of their life.

Our Vision:

~ Nurture ~ Inspire ~ Learn ~ Succeed ~

Our vision is for Farndon Fields Primary School to be a high achieving, vibrant learning community in which children are nurtured, motivated and have outstanding expectations for themselves and others. We believe that every member of our school community, regardless of gender, race or disability, has the right to achieve their potential and THRIVE in an atmosphere which balances support with challenge. We aim to provide a climate for learning which encourages creativity, is enjoyable, safe, exciting and well structured.

We will work with a range of partners, including other schools, to develop our own practice and to share what we do well. In a rapidly changing educational landscape, we know that working in partnership is a vital way to grow our capacity and improve on the achievement of our school. At Farndon Fields Primary School, we recognise that progress can come from the power of many, but only when the many have a common aim: to achieve success for all.

Discovery Schools Academy Trust is dedicated to improving learning and teaching by creating a culture that promotes excellence. The needs of all children are placed at the heart of all decision making regardless of the school they attend. Teaching and learning excellence is shared through learning networks, sharing of ideas and materials as well as leading practitioners between schools. Discovery has developed staff development, talent management and succession planning at the heart of achieving outstanding organisations.
