Henlow Church of England Academy is a 9 - 13 middle school which was established in 1976, and officially opened by Lord Runcie, then Bishop of St. Albans, in May 1977. The School converted to Academy status on 1st April 2012 and is moving to secondary education in September 2021. The School is approached by a fine drive and stands in parkland which was once part of Henlow Grange.
The purpose-built accommodation includes a Library, Science Laboratories, Music Room, ICT Room, Hall, Gymnasium, Design Centre and twenty-one classrooms. Outside, the School is well provided for with two hard surface play areas, and floodlit multi use games area. The catchment area of the School covers the Parishes of Henlow (including Henlow Camp), Clifton, Langford and Meppershall.
We work very closely with the five feeder schools located in those villages, from whom we receive most of our children.
As a school, Henlow has high expectations and sets very high standards. Our mission statement is “Aiming for Excellence”. We aim to provide a caring, safe, happy environment in which children’s learning can be nurtured; and in which all staff can work effectively as part of a friendly and supportive team. We are proud of Henlow Church of England Academy’s ethos and of our values of Honesty, Enthusiasm, Nurture, Love, Originality and Wisdom, which underpin all activities and relationships within our school and our community.
