We are a group of qualified teachers who have been working with learners in Bedfordshire over the last two years. We tutor from our centre in Dunstable, as well as working 1:1 with learners in their homes and, increasingly, online.

Red Bird Tutoring was founded by Sue Michaels with one clear aim: to tutor and coach learners in order for them to make accelerated progress in school.

What makes us different from the other tutoring companies? In one word… teachers.

Every single one of our tutors is a qualified and experienced classroom teacher and the majority of them continue to hold full-time teaching and/or leadership roles in schools.

We choose our tutors very carefully: they have to be the right fit for our Red Bird ethos. Not only are our tutors excellent teachers, they are also supportive and kind; they help learners believe in themselves; they bring out the best in our learners.

And because we only use qualified and experienced teachers, we pride ourselves on being able to offer intuitive and personalised tuition rather than following a pre-prepared curriculum or computer programme. 

Coaching has always been at the centre of our approach, meaning that we intentionally teach skills that help our learners take charge of their own learning.  This builds self-belief and resilience that they bring back into school and which filters through the entire curriculum.

Our tutoring sessions are held on Saturdays, which ensures that it does not take valuable time out of the school day.  We know that schools always worry whether children will turn up to tutoring on a Saturday, but we are thrilled that we have had an almost 100% attendance rate for learners booked by their schools over the last two years and the feedback from both learners and schools is that our tutoring has an impact!
