About Pioneer Learning Trust

Who are Pioneer Learning Trust

The Pioneer Trust is a small but growing Trust of collaborative schools in Luton.  The Trust currently consists of 3 larger than average primary schools – Chantry Primary Academy, Southfield Primary School and Whitefield Primary Academy.  We have approximately 1500 pupils in the Trust taught and supported by around 300 staff.  We plan to grow to 7 schools with 3000+ pupils in the next 2-3 years.  We welcome interest from academies or maintained schools interested in joining a Trust focused on partnership and collaboration in the pursuit of excellence and equity for all pupils.

Why work for us?

We know that people don’t go into teaching “for the holidays.”  People go into school based roles for the rewarding nature of the job – in short they want to make a difference; to help children to see bright futures for themselves.  Our schools are based in areas of high deprivation and as a result, our staff teams are focused on closing the gap between the most disadvantaged pupils and all pupils nationally, ensuring that our pupils achieve the best possible outcomes.  Teamwork and collaboration is a particular feature of our Trust with staff working across schools to support each other, offering excellent career progression opportunities.

With special provision for pupils with visual impairment (VI )in Chantry, alongside specialist support and provision for children with social, emotional and mental health issues (SEMH) in both Chantry and Whitefield, our Trust is well placed to make a significant difference to the lives of some of the most disadvantaged pupils in Luton.  The specialist teams in these provisions offer training and support to colleagues in all schools.

In addition to benefits of working in our Trust include:

  • Excellent access to ongoing Training/CPD
  • Outstanding career progression opportunities – 63% of senior colleagues in our schools are made up of promotions from within the Trust: including Middle Leadership, AHT and DHT post holders who trained with us or joined as NQTs
  • Pension Schemes with generous employer contributions
  • A determined focus on work-life balance and workload reduction including an open approach to flexible working requests
  • An Employee Assistance Package which includes an online portal, a 24 hour hotline and access to face to face counselling support
  • A discount scheme with 1500+ discounts
  • Preferential customer discount pricing schemes with Nissan and Vauxhall
  • On-site low cost childcare - As a Trust, we offer low cost childcare to all of our staff, with on-site care for school age children in each of our academies.  We also offer places for children aged 0-4yrs in our Ofsted registered staff creche provision, ‘Busy Kids’ based at Chantry Primary Academy.

What is our Vision and Values?

Working collaboratively within the Pioneer Learning Trust, our group of academies will pursue excellence and equity for every child through our shared vision:

  • To develop and promote a curriculum relevant to the children in each school within the trust, which has the breadth and depth of the National Curriculum
  • Maintain a relentless drive to raise achievement and maximise the potential of all pupils and adults within the MAT
  • Provide safe and inclusive learning environments which meet the needs of all of our learners
  • Make learning enjoyable and promote and foster a love of learning
  • Provide a rich offer of extra-curricular and enhancement opportunities to broaden the horizons of all pupils
  • Maintain the unique identity, values and integrity of each individual school within the Trust at the same time as rigorously holding leaders to account for pupil outcomes
  • School leaders challenge each other and overcome barriers together to achieve excellence
  • Recruit and retain the highest possible quality staff, providing excellent induction, CPD and progression opportunities
  • Work in partnership to provide innovative, reciprocal and collaborative practices to achieve best value

The Pioneer Learning Trust academies work collaboratively, following our shared values:

Aspiration  ~  Respect  ~  Unity  ~  Integrity  ~  Independence ~  Quality  ~  Enjoyment
