About Meridian Trust
As a Trust our approach to staff development is the same as for the children and students in our care. We place equal importance on the behaviours and “how” people carry out their roles as well as the more technical knowledge and skills required, which are always linked back to our Trust Value, Mission and Vision.
Individual personal development areas are usually identified during regular developmental conversations with your line manager or colleagues, or as part of your own self awareness as you strive for continuous improvement in your current role, future career opportunities or as part of our holistic wellbeing approach. Areas that other colleagues across the Trust have been supported to develop themselves in order to enhance their impact in their roles to help us achieve teaching excellence or operational excellence include:

Meridian Trust academies develop the expertise of their teachers through a range of targeted professional development and training
From September 2021, all early career teachers will benefit from the ‘Early Career Framework’ provision. Meridian Trust will be partnering with the EDT and the local teaching school hubs in the delivery of this. Meridian Trust schools work to articulate a clear vision for teaching priorities in each school, working closely with staff to innovate and enhance the students’ experience in those areas.
Meridian Trust subject networks meet regularly to innovate the curriculum and share emerging practice. Our Curriculum Directors lead these networks and drive collaboration and training opportunities in all subject areas and specialisms. This means that you are never far from a colleague or from supportive advice.
In order to achieve the Trust’s Mission and Vision of the pursuit of Teaching Excellence, we also need to strive for Operational Excellence. We value all our people and place equal importance on the development of colleagues whose roles are operationally focussed. Development of specific knowledge/capabilities for your current role, as well as those needed for supporting your career development as well as finance, IT, coaching, people management and leadership skills are available.
